How would you like all Paul McCartney all the time?

Paul McCartney
     Paul McCartney (Apple Corps Ltd.)

As if we weren't crazy enough to be doing three Examiner columns (you know we're also the Vintage Rock 'n' Roll and TV on DVD Examiners, right?), we've taken on a fourth. And it's another Beatles column. It's actually about A BEATLE. The guy pictured on the right. Yes, we're now also the Paul McCartney Examiner as well as the Beatles Examiner.

Why, you ask? Because his story, from the '60s to now, is one amazing thing after another. And because we've had so much fun doing this Beatles Examiner column, we think we're the one to tell it.

We hope you agree. The first column is online. We've heard from people who have read it that they liked it. We hope you also enjoy it and subscribe to our new Examiner column (and this one, if you haven't already). It'll be more of the Beatle news and fun you'll expect, but it'll Paul 24/7.

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

Will it still be all Paul in the Beatles column, too?
It must be a great time to be a McCartney fan.

Good luck with this latest column, Steve! I know you'll do your usual great job.

Steve: This question isn't purely Paul related but I don't know how else to ask you this questions. I was wondering if you knew how many stereo and mono sets The Beatles sold in the U.S. in 2009. I noticed on the Billboard charts for 2009, the Beatles were No. 3 in terms of most CDs sold this year (after Michael Jackson, with about 8 million, and Taylor Swift, with about 4.5 million). The Beatles, Billboard says, sold 3.2 million CDs in 2009. So my question is how many of those 3.2 were stereo and mono sets? Just curious if the Beatles would have been No. 1 had those sets counted as 14 individual CD sales (for the stereo set) and 12 individual CD sales (for the mono) instead of each set just counting as one sale?

Hi Steve! All McCartney sounds GREAT! I have been a Beatles/Paul
    fan for about 45 years....since I was 5.
I still love to follow up on Paul, since he has always been
    "the one"....Thanks.

All Paul, y'all! Good luck with the new 'baby' Steve - sure it will be brill!

Sounds awesome, the more McCartney the better - he's brilliant.

Also re the question about the Box set - the sales of the Box Set count as just one sale each don't they? If they do that means the Beatles actually probably sold more actual albums than anyone else, including Michael Jackson and Taylor Swift, because it would be 13 albums times, say a million of the box sets - so that's 1 million copies of 13 different albums. Then add on the individual albums sold and you have 15 million.

Yes, Maggie, that was my point. I want to know if anyone (Steve or otherwise) knows exactly how many box sets the Beatles sold in 2009. Then we could do the math.

I have figures from mid-December. I'll write those up before the evening is over.
