Mark your calendars for September 17th, also known as Responsible Dog Owners Day.
Owning a dog is a big responsibility, and means you are responsible for it’s health, care and over all well being. Being responsible means that you are dependable, reliable, trustworthy, honest. It also means that if you say you will do something, you will do your best to keep your word.
Providing food, water and shelter is only the beginning of being a responsible dog owner. You also have to keep their vaccinations current, make sure they wear a collar with the proper identification, wear leash when outside and be open to spaying or neutering your pet when the time comes, in order to do your part in controlling the pet population, and much much more.
It also means you should take the time to show your pet affection by showing them love. Taking them for walks, playing with them, providing them with chew toys and treats also makes for a happy dog. Responsible dog owners spend time with their pet instead of leaving them by themselves all the time while at work, or elsewhere. Dogs are like people, in that they need human interaction.
