The guilt of Christ's Crucifixion and death rests on us all. This is precisely why the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus the Nazarene man, and the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, is the center of history, and the 'source and summit' of not only the search for Truth, but the finding.
And that is why we Crucify Him all over again every time we seek to reinvent Him ourselves.
"Now thus says the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways! You have sown much, but have brought in little...Go up into the hill country; bring timber, and build the house that I may take pleasure in it and receive my glory, says the LORD." Haggai 1:1-8
God desires for our plans, and our efforts, to succeed--if only they are what truly fulfills us in His Perfect vision for the human person. Adam and Eve received the best of God's intent, and only in free-will gone astray did they fall from grace. 'Fall from grace,' this is the key to our disappointments in effort given, and results withheld. For when we build God's Kingdom first, in every act and thought of our day, even the seemingly non-religious acts, we find spiritual reward which far exceeds our effort in the grace to pray, and praise, and find a spark of joy no matter the circumstance.
And when God is put first, receiving His Glory, we are simultaneously glorified even in our suffering.
"Sing to the LORD a new song of praise in the assembly of the faithful. Let Israel be glad in their maker, let the children of Zion rejoice in their king...For the LORD loves his people, and he adorns the lowly with victory." Psalm 149:1-6, 9
The Eucharist is the single efficacious reason that elevates Catholic worship above all human endeavors in seeking for the Lord. For it is God come near, Emmanuel, truly present in the Sacrament which perpetuates (unbloody) our salvation, won through the shedding of His Blood on Calvary. In Jesus himself, received faithfully, in a state of sanctifying grace, we may truly sing a new 'song of praise in the assembly of the faithful,' truly knowing that this is the Real and Present Jesus; He who died for our salvation.
This is the Jesus who 'adorns the lowly with victory.'
"Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying, 'John has been raised from the dead'; others were saying, 'Elijah has appeared'; still others, 'One of the ancient prophets has arisen.' But Herod said, 'John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?' And he kept trying to see him." Luke 9:7-9
When Catholics such as Bill O'Reilly redefine Jesus' Crucifixion as the end result of a tax quarrel, many a soul is mislead, and ends up losing the true meaning of Christ as proclaimed by the Apostolic Church. When politicians such as Nancy Pelosi declare abortion mills as 'sacred ground,' many a soul misses the point of the Lord of Life, in the lies and distortions of the 'culture of death.' Therefore, when influential Catholics preach against the true teaching of the Church, Christ Jesus is Crucified once again by the many who are led astray.
And the Lord, of both Justice and Mercy, knows whose hands His Sacred Blood is found on.
