How Voters Create Delusional Politicians

It’s no secret; politicians in Washington DC are delusional when it comes to understanding what the needs of the American people are. The Democrats had two years to make some progress and they failed. Meanwhile the GOP has controlled the House for 1½ years and have done less than nothing.

The problem is no different on the state level. GOP governors came to power on promises of balancing the budget only to wage war against public employees and canceling public projects that could have created jobs.

Why?

Angry voters like to believe it’s because most politicians are “elitists” who don’t understand the public need or they’re on Wall Streets payroll. These may sound like reasonable explanations but the reality is that voters are responsible for electing these delusional politicians.

Who is the ideal politician for a voter? The answer: a happily married person who is open about their faith, has well behaved kids, a loyal spouse, a life free of sin, and has no flaws. Something that is only normal in fantasyland.

In reality; 40% of marriages have ended in divorce (according to the Census Bureau), everyone who is not a loser has partied in college, not everyone gets along with their family, a lot of people have had a hard life growing up, and we all have made some mistakes in life.

Unfortunately voters expect “Mr. Perfect” to operate government. The problem with the “Mr. Perfect” politicians is that they are clueless as to how real Americans are struggling. Just look at how delusional President Obama was when the Democrats lost control of the House of Representatives or Gov. Rick Scott when he refused Federal funding for a high speed railway in Florida.

The point is that politicians will continue to be out of touch if voters continue electing the cookie cutter-Republican / Democrat – “Mr. Perfect.” Rather than voting for the flawless perfect candidate, vote for the one that shares your life experience or has an honest record.
