How to Warby Parker

Warby Parker kicked off S/S 2012 New York Fashion Week presentations by staging a top-secret happening at the New York Public Library. To pull it off, the creative team at Warby Parker joined forces with Partners and Spade and enlisted the help of some who’s whos of the fashion crowd, including Daily Candy’s Lauren Lumsden, Rich Tong of Tumblr fame, and 30 fashion models.

How exactly do you hide 30 fashion models in plain sight at the New York Public Library’s Great Room? Here’s how to achieve that Warby Parker, cool-but-not-trying look.

Hair

Keep it very simple.

If you are a guy with medium to longish hair, rub a little wax, such as Sumotech by Bumble and Bumble, between your fingers and run through your strands. Then shake your head, for that textured, yet sexily unkempt, feel.

If you are a girl with short hair, just don’t comb or brush it when you get up in the morning. If you have long hair, tie it in a low ponytail using a Goody-brand elastic and then twist it into a messy bun, weave a pencil into it to hold it there.

Makeup

Ladies, while you are not really trying to look made up, it is still essential not to have under-eye darkness or blemishes that show. Dab a tiny bit of concealer, such as Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, under your eyes and around your nose. Be sure to hit any blemishes with a little as well, and blend with a damp sponge.

Using an oval eyeshadow brush, apply a sheer bronze or bronze-pink shadow all over your lid. Contour your crease with a medium brown or taupe shadow. Stila’s eyeshadow trios in bronze glow and gold glow work great on most skin tones.

Apply one coat of mascara, like Loreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara, for a tiny bit of pop behind your awesome acetate frame glasses.

Finish with a touch of bronzer to contour your cheekbones and a slick of your Lip Smackers lip-balm in the flavor of your choice (Dr. Pepper tastes great and adds a nice plum tint).
