How to use Pinterest group boards?

Pinterest is a social bookmarking website where people create virtual pinboards to collect, categorize, organize, and share interesting images and links. Another way to enjoy Pinterest is to pin with others by creating a group board. A group board allows more than one pinner to pin to the same board, and it is a convenient way to collaborate on ideas, post inspirational messages, make recommendations, or share accomplishments.

To create a group board, click on the “Add +” link at the top of the page and select “Create a Board.” Choose a name for your new board, select a category, and type into the “Who Can Pin?” text box the Pinterest user name or email of the friend(s) you would like to invite. Click “Create Board,” and you are done. Invitations can only be sent to people you are currently following. Pinterest will send an invitation to join your board to your invitees. You will be listed as the Creator for the group board. The Pinterest blog recommends to only send invitations to pinners “who have expressed interest in” your pins and to “avoid sending multiple requests.”

To join a group board that belongs to another pinner, you must first receive an invitation to join the board. If your email alerts are activated, you will receive an email invitation to join the group board with an activation link. Otherwise, you will see your invitation when you log into Pinterest. Accept the invitation to gain access to the group board. One thing to consider before deciding to accept an invitation to join a group board is that pins will be added to the group board by other pinners, and you will see all of the content that is added. There is currently not a way to filter which pins you can see.

To remove yourself from a group board, click on your profile, and select the group board. Next, click the “Edit Board” button, and click “Leave.” You will receive a prompt asking if you are sure you want to leave the group board, click “Leave” again. This will permanently remove you from the group board.

You can also control the notifications that you receive from your group board by selecting the group board, clicking the “Edit Board” button, and turning the notifications tab on or off.

Participating in Pinterest group boards is a great way to create greater visibility for your pins. If you are looking for a more-collaborative experience on Pinterest, creating or joining a group board will enable you to connect with others and share your pins as a collective.
