I frequently turn GPS off when my iPhone is running low on battery power. After all, I'm not always using the iPhone's location services, and it is very easy to turn iPhone GPS on, so if I do need to use it, I can turn it back on in seconds.
This is a really great tip for long trips when I use up my iPhone battery playing Monopoly or surfing the web. And if you are having trouble getting through the work day without completely draining your iPhone, simply turning iPhone GPS on when needed and off when not needed could do the trick.

How to turn iPhone GPS on and off
How easy is it to turn the iPhone's GPS on and off? Three taps on the iPhone's display will do the trick. You simply need to know where to tap.
- First, go to your iPhone settings. Get to these settings by tapping the iPhone settings button displayed on this post.
- The location services are under the general settings, so tap where it says General. This is towards the bottom of that first screen in the third set of options.
- You will find Location Services at the bottom of the second set of options, just below Bluetooth. Simply tap to the right of the blue "On" toggle. The image will change to a gray "Off" with a white background.
Note that turning off location services will not only disable the GPS, it will also disable the ability to find your current location through nearby cell phone towers. Need to turn iPhone GPS back on? No problem. Simply follow these same directions and tap where it says "Off" next to Location Services.
