Tis the season! The boss throws down his credit card, and champagne flows – it’s the annual office holiday party. But with the event typically starting as soon as the business day ends, there is little time to revamp your look.
Enter Viviana Martin, director of Pro Artist Relations for Kevyn Aucoin, the eponymous cosmetics line founded by legendary artist Kevyn Aucoin. After a chance meeting with Kevyn in the late 1990’s during one of his book signings in Seattle, Martin was inspired to master the techniques he had written about and would ultimately be remembered for. Fast forward, she now works with top artists, facilitating needs for editorial shoots, celebrity clients, and Fashion Week on behalf of the brand.
Fortunately for us, she sat down to share her tips to transform your look in no time flat!
Let’s start at the beginning – what do you need to up the ante for the work party?
I always like to keep a bag of beauty essentials to go from casual to glam in an instant. If you know you are going straight from work to your office holiday party, all you need is: a lash curler, black liquid liner for impact, mascara and a bolder, brighter lip color to change your look in seconds!
And then what? Do you need to totally reapply your makeup?
After a long day at work, wake up and refresh the skin before transitioning your makeup to evening. I like to keep Mario Badescu's Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater in my kit for this purpose. Mist over your face for a quick pick me up!
Since we want to go from casual to a more “festive look”, focus on the eyes and lips.
First, apply black eyeliner like Kevyn Aucoin’s The Eye Pencil Primatif or, if you want to take it a step further, use a black liquid liner for added glamour (it will glide over your current eye liner easily)!
Then, curl your lashes with the eyelash curler and add a new coat of mascara.
If you are savvy at applying lashes, I'd recommend Kevyn Aucoin The Lashes, the line's first ever lash collection, in “Ingenue” for natural, pretty lashes, or (for something more flirty) The Lashes in “Starlett.” I like to use Duo eyelash glue for my eyelash application but any glue will do. Your co-workers will notice the subtle difference and you didn’t have to work hard to achieve this simple Holiday look that is great on everyone!
Finish by adding a festive lip color to finish your look.
