After waiting five long months after its teaser was released, the first official trailer for How to Train Your Dragons 2 hit the web this morning. The new animated film finds Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) and his dragon buddy Toothless five years after the events of the first film unfolded, where life on the island of Berk has now settled into a peaceful community, with vikings and dragons living alongside one another. This stunning new trailer will have fans of the franchise salivating. In it, Hiccup meets a another person who also cares for dragons…and claims to be his mother.
Grossing nearly $500 million worldwide at the box office, the original 2010 film has sparked toy lines, video games, and even a TV series on Cartoon Network called “Dragons: Riders of Berk” (which recently closed out its second season). And even before the hype train for the second film has revved into overdrive, How to Train Your Dragons 3 has been announced for a release sometime in 2016.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 will open in D.C. theaters on June 14 of next year. Expect it to open at local Regal and AMC theaters. For more information about the film, visit it’s official website, follow DreamWorks’ Twitter feed, or check out it’s official Facebook page.
