How to train a Bartender

I know we've all had this experience before. You go out to a happy hour with your co-workers or friends. You've had a rough day at the gig and all you want to do is sit down and enjoy a quick drink with your colleagues. However instead of receiving your drink you get a watered down colored beverage,a wet shirt from alcohol that was spilled, and an unapologetic bartender.

Well two consummate bar tending professionals saw the need to train better quality bartenders and decided to take things into their own hands. And thus A-list Startenders bar tending school was born.

Located in the Portage Park neighborhood this bar tending school sets itself apart by being technologically up to date. Using smart boards, LCD TVs, and other tech savvy tools to help train their students on the ways of the bartender. Not only that but this ultra modern school was built up by hand by its founders Anthony Pisano and Greg T. "We did [built] everything by hand except for the plumbing" says Anthony Pisano one of the owners/founders of A-list.

Although they have recently been featured on Groupon, Pisano stressed that this is no fly by night operation. "We do a have a pretty difficult curriculum, and we do not give students their certificates right away. They have to pass the course and then their certificates are mailed to them."

A-list is also committed to being a green facility. Citing that they are trying to move away from using pen and paper by getting their students laptops, and by really instilling in their students the importance of conserving materials and products.

A-list also hopes to offer mixology courses in the future for those interested in entertaining at home, learning more about what pairs well with what, and for those who are just interested in brushing up on their skills and learning more recipes. They also offer job placement for those who complete their course.
