Makeup brushes are one of those things that you use on a regular basis but don't always necessarily think about how to maintain. If you have and take care of high quality makeup brushes, they can last for years! I really recommend brushes by Bare Minerals and Urban Decay, but that's for another post. Today's post is about how to clean off all the leftover powders and creams so that your brushes can perform to the best of their abilities and keep your skin looking lovely. If you don't wash your brushes frequently, colors can get muddy, your skin can break out, and your brushes can get coarse and icky. Here are my recommended steps for taking care of your brushes.
1. First of all, on an everyday basis, I recommend spritzing your just used brushes with a daily cleaner. I like Sephora Collection Daily Brush Cleaner. Just spritz some on a tissue and wipe the brush on the tissue until the brush seems clean.
2. I like to deep clean my brushes about once a month. For this I like Sephora Collection Purifying Brush Shampoo. I run my brushes under water, pour a little shampoo in my palm, and swirl the brush in my hand. I then rinse the brushes in a bowl of water. This method really works on getting all the leftover gunk out of the brushes. Simply blot the wet brushes on a washcloth and lay flat to dry.
Voila! Soft, clean makeup brushes! Follow this method and your brushes will last you years! I've had some almost ten or so. Click the link for Sephora's brush cleaners.
