Nine times out of ten when you see your friend, the first thing he or she notices is what’s wrong with you. You could have on a new outfit and look sharp as a tack but they’ll always have something to say. “You look nice, but…” How do you tell your friend that you’re tired of their negative comments?
Many of us knows of someone that we’ve been friends with for some time but feel they always have something to say about everything. And most times, what they have to say is negative, but they will tell you that they’re just keeping it real.
Have you ever walked the other way, not called, or just tried to avoid altogether a friend who seems to always have something to say about everything? Sometimes the people that we are around the most don’t realize that they go left when they should’ve gone right in the beginning of a conversation. For some people pointing out what’s wrong is the norm for them and they just have to rearrange their thoughts and be more conscious of being positive rather than negative.
If every time you see a friend and they have to point out something about your outfit, your hair, your job, your kids, or just you period; ask them “Do you realize that most times I see you that you don’t always have anything positive to say where I am concerned? Why is that?”
Sometimes we have to call our friends on the carpet about their treatment. If not; they’ll continue to do the same thing over and over again. When we wait too long and tell them about it when we can’t take it anymore is when it gets blown out of proportion when we could have handled it as it happened. It’s not always good to complain or be upset about something if you’re not going to confront the issue.
