Imagine if you could study faster. Instead of having an assignment take you three hours, what if it took you just two? Or maybe just one?
The good news is that there is a study tip that can make it possible to get your studying done quicker than you already do. It just takes a shift in your study habits.
What is that study tip?
Prestudy.
It's simple. Let's say you have to read a book for school. Normally, you might get yourself all comfortable, flip to page one, and start plowing your way through.
Not so with prestudying.
First, take a look at the assignment. What exactly is it that you need to do?
Then, look at the book. Get a big-picture view of it. Flip through and look at headings, chapter names... anything that will give you an idea of where you're going.
This works best with nonfiction materials, by the way, because your brain can sort things into a big-picture view much quicker than it can build a big-picture view from scratch.
Once you've gone over the assignment and gotten a big-picture view, then it's time to flip to page one and start plowing.
This works for things other than reading, too.
Have a science project? Get an idea of what all you have to do, the materials you need, etc.
Bunch of math problems? Look them all over first and start with the easy ones.
Prestudying may seem a little awkward at first and maybe even like a waste of time. But the time you spend giving yourself an idea of where you're going is time well spent.
Before you know it, you'll start to study faster and your study sessions will start to speed by!
