The winter blues can get to all of us. But, they can be especially bad if you are stuck in between coming off the rush of fitting everything in before the end of the year to where do you start to begin the new year.
Here are some ways that you can start fresh and stay motivated through the winter months:
Clean your office
Take some time and go through your office area, closet, filing cabinet, desk tops, email inbox, whatever and make sure what items you need or which can be discarded. Cleaning is a great distraction from everyday boredom, so find some time for your office.
Target new partners and clientele
You can invite potential or current clients to your office and you don't have to worry about people being too busy (like they were in December) to come by for a meeting. The business meeting can be as formal or informal as you like, but make sure you stack the place with plenty of refreshments. You can serve finger foods or have a local restaurant cater the lunch.
Plan for the new year
What projects did you not get finished last year? What are the company's goals for the new year. Spend some time coming up with a game plan to ensure you stay on task and get projects completed on time. Review your marketing campaigns and sales numbers and see what you need to do to hit all of your goals by the end of the year. Keep a prioritized checklist of what you should be doing and enjoy the sense of accomplishment you will get when you can check completed tasks/projects off of the list.
Go to training/networking events in warm locations
Ok, so this may be a long shot-but give it a try! Many employers send their team members out to training and networking events. Try to fit in a sunny one now and then! You can be busy building business relationships with people you meet at these events. Keep your eyes open because you never know when you’ll pick up a new client.
Switch it up and do something different every day
Have coffee from somewhere new or just add two sugars instead of one. No matter what it is, just try something new. Break up the monotony. Most importantly-keep a positive attitude even on the dreariest of the days. Keep a smile on your face and a drive for getting the job done. Spring will be here before you know it!
