How to stay healthy and fit

Being healthy and  fit is very important in having the best quality of life that you can. There are 3 pieces to the puzzle that need to be worked on to be as healthy and fit as you can be. All 3 pieces need to work together to be successful in your quest to be and stay healthy and fit.

The first part of the puzzle is cardio exercise; cardio exercise is what is needed to maintain endurance for sustained physical activity. Doing cardio exercise will also help with muscle flexibility and keep your muscles loose, and help with strengthening your heart and lungs to help ward off heart disease and keep you healthy and fit. Cardio also helps maintain bone density to avoid breaking bones, as you get older, as well as a great way to reduce stress and anxiety which is a big part of staying healthy and fit. There are many types of cardio that you can do, look here for some ways to start.

The second piece in the puzzle to stay healthy and fit is diet. Without a good diet the other 2 pieces will not be able to keep you healthy and fit. Food is the fuel that your body uses to operate, if you put bad fuel into your tank, you will get bad results from your body. Compare your body to a car, if you put bad gas in your car, it will not run like it should and possible not run at all. The big difference is that the bad fuel for your body is so prevalent and easy to get. There are different views on what are the best amounts of different types of foods, but everyone agrees that you need good quality protein, good quality carbs and good quality fats to stay healthy and fit.

The third part of the puzzle and certainly not the least is weight training. You need to do weight training to keep your muscles and bones strong and keep your entire body healthy and fit. You should train all of your body parts at least once a week. Spread the workouts over 3 different days and break it into complementary muscle groups. Sometimes living in places like Minnesota it is difficult to maintain all 3 pieces because of the weather, but there are alternatives, and the weather should not be used as an excuse to avoid exercising.

If any of the 3 pieces are missing from your daily routine you will not be living up to your full potential in most everything that you do. Being strong with no stamina or having stamina with no strength is not good, and if your diet is not working with the cardio and weight training you are losing out. Start out slowly and get each piece working in unison to keep you healthy and fit.
