During pregnancy it is expected for women to gain some weight and for some of us, we’re not able to do as we would normally. Most expectant mothers tend to be worried about their figures post pregnancy, not to mention the hard work of getting back in shape.
Let’s think about it, wouldn’t it be easier to regain our figure if we are able to regulate the amount of weight we put on during pregnancy? Most certainly. So what do we do then? It’s simple really, we remain fit during pregnancy. Bear in mind that everyone has a different experience during pregnancy and is affected differently. Be sure to talk to your obstetrician or gynecologist about what works best in your condition.
Here are 3 simple tips to help you remain fit during pregnancy:
Start By Eating Healthy
With all the food cravings and junk food that we tend to consume during pregnancy, you can expect to put on weight. It's true that most of the weight we put on in this period is due to the foods we eat. So choose healthier foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Try creating your own fruit and vegetable juices using little or no sugar, keep it as natural as possible. More importantly, hydrate the body with lots of pure water. Remember you must eat foods that contribute to the well-being of both you and your baby, those foods that give the essential nutrients. Don’t get carried away because you are pregnant and don’t blame food cravings, you must make healthier choices.
A lot of women believe that once they are pregnant they should be less active. Nothing could be further from the truth.
There are some pregnancies that are considered delicate or high risk if the mother has a particular illness or condition. However, for the majority of healthy expectant moms, this is not the time to avoid exercise. Pregnant women need to stay active.
Walking helps to promote circulation in the body. However, there are some people who have swollen feet and aching backs to contend with. When you are active from the beginning it will become easier throughout the pregnancy. Doing low impact exercises like certain stretches will be beneficial to you.
Exercise is absolutely essential during pregnancy. It helps to promote better mood and improves sleep. It prepares you for delivery and is also important in strengthening muscles, thus making it easier to get back in shape post-partum. Again, remember to consult your doctor to talk about what types of exercise routine works best for you.
Stick To It
Once you have established a routine that works well with you, make an effort to do it consistently. Many of us are guilty of starting out strong only to give up later on. Stick to your exercise routine during pregnancy and even when you are near your delivery date. Even walking everyday will greatly assist you in childbirth.
