How to start a meditation regiment is as simple as 5 minutes a day (Video)

Many people have stated that they do not know how to meditate. Many think that meditation is a formal process that lasts an hour or so and requires lots of fancy music and settings. But, to meditate simply start once a day.

Set aside a specific time of day where you feel comfortable. This could be in the morning, afternoon, or evening or all three if you would like to. When you pick a time or time, simply mark this time in your calendar and stick to it.

Next, find a place to make a special place. This doesn't have to be an entire room but can be a corner of a room, etc. Then make a place comfortable for you to sit. This may be a pillow, cushion, floor or for some people a chair depending upon their health needs.

Make this a place that is just for you. Bring a timer and possibly a CD player or iPod. Then just set your timer for 5 minutes and relax. You can close or open your eyes, which ever will keep you from being distracted.

You can also turn on music or even a guided meditation that will help you focus on something if you feel that your mind will wander.

While meditating simply breathe deep, in and out. Concentrate on your breathing.

Continue this until it becomes a habit and increase your time once you become comfortable. Add crystals, incense, music, anything that helps you focus.

And remember that meditation is about your intent and there is no set way of mediating. There are hundreds of meditative traditions that once you begin you can explore.

But, remember that meditation helps with the mind, body and soul. Here is an article talking about the 100 benefits of meditation.
