The 36th Annual People's Choice Awards were held Wednesday, January 6 in L.A. Here are ten quick fashion highlights followed by local buying recommendations:

1.  Carrie Underwood wore a black and white dress by Christian Cota and Rock & Republic shoes.  Not my favorite outfit of the night - reminds me a bit of a Valentine's doily.  If you like Underwood's Rock & Republic shoes, consider:

2.  Megan Park, from The Secret Life of the American Teenager, arrived wearing a white BCBG dress.  The dress was adorable on her, although the bottom half did slightly remind me of some wedding dresses I saw recently at an auction.  Park's hair and makeup, however, were absolutely stunning. If you would like a dress like Park's for yourself, consider:

  • Dillard's - I.N. San Francisco Necklace Sheath Dress - $59.00

  • Dillard's - I.N. San Francisco Tiered Rosette Dress - $59.00

  • Dillard's - Gianna Bini "Patty" Dress - $148.00

  • Dillard's - Gianna Bini "Yvette" Dress - $148.00

3.  Camille Winbush, also of The Secret Life of the American Teenager, wore a red Herve Ledger bandage dress, which was starkly different from her television character's wardrobe.  For a dress similar to Winbush's consider:

4.  Hayley Williams, lead vocalist for Paramore, arrived with fire engine red hair and bedecked in bows.  Bows may be in trend, but this look was definitely not her best fashion decision ever.  For dresses and accessories featuring bows, consider:

5.  Mariah Carey wore a white beaded Ysa Makino halter gown with Neil Lane jewelry and while she was less flashy than usual, she did manage to have a slight wardrobe mishap in that she was unable to walk to the stage in a normal manner.  Her dress was far too long, and I'm sure the mermaid flair at the bottom didn't help much either.  For similar dresses, consider:

6.  Sandra Bullock, a big winner for the night, looked stunning in a gold gown by Vivienne Westwood. For similar dresses, consider:

  • Dillard's - Matty M One-Shoulder Draped Dress - $70.80

  • Dillard's - S.L. Fashions Chiffon Dress - $80.00

  • Dillard's - Jax Sheath Dress - $160.00

7.  Kelly Rutherford, of Gossip Girl, was highly adorned as she arrived on the red carpet.  Her Jenny Packham gown was covered in jewels, & I wouldn't say that this was her most flattering fashion moment. For a similar dress and accessories, consider:

8.  Katie Cassidy, of the CW's Melrose Place, wore a Talbot Runhof cocktail dress with very interesting detailing.  Her clutch, too, was absolutely adorable as it resembled a silver and gold wrapped present.  For similar dresses and accessories, consider:

9.  Actress Olivia Wilde, who plays Dr. Remy Hadley or Thirteen on Fox's House, arrived in a white A-line Monique Lhuillier dress with a black sash around the waist.  It's a little too Little Bo Peep goes to the ball for me.  She also carried a judith Leiber clutch and wore Sergio Rossi shoes and jewelry by Van Cleef and Arpels. For similar dress styles, consider:

  • Dillard's - Jessica Howard Sleeveless Party Dress - $54.00

  • Dillard's - Jessica Howard Sleeveless Dress - $80.00

  • Dillard's - Alex Evenings One-Shoulder Taffeta Dress with Shawl - $102.00

  • Dillard's - Max and Cleo Pleated Chiffon Dress - $138.00

  • Dillard's - Cachet Sleeveless Gown - $170.00

10.  Kellan Lutz & Taylor Lautner, of "New Moon", both looked incredible wearing looks from Calvin Klein Collection.  Lutz wore a blue and black blazer and a matching tie.  The blue definitely suits him. Lautner opted for an all gray suit with a white shirt and a black tie.  For a look like Lutz's, consider:

For a look like Lautner's, consider:

Belk, Banana Republic, Dillard's, Express, JCPenney, and Payless are located in Columbiana Centre.
