Do you ever feel like clutter is affecting your productivity? Does your mind get as crowded as your closet? Here is a step-by-step guide to clearing your clutter quick and easy.
- Step 1: Pick a room in the home(kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, etc) and write a list of goals you want to accomplish in each.
- Step 2: Start to remove everything one cabinet at a time! Check expiration on food items that need to be thrown out. Toss out anything with mold or semi-empty bottles in the bathroom. If you are in your closet begin to think about the last time you saw each item. If it has been two years it is time to donate or throw out those items. To aid in throwing away perfectly good clothes, tell yourself you can only buy a new item if something is thrown out in its place.
- Step 3: After things are out, sort them and put them in similar groups (eg. bath soaps together, t-shirts together, etc).
- Step 4: Get a rag and cleaning solution and wipe dirt and grime from the shelves and cabinets. If you are in your bedroom, dusting can serve the same purpose.
- Step 5: Now you are ready to put things back. Take the categories you created and designate a place for them. If all of one item cannot fit together, find a place near by to store them. If they are items you may not use everyday, the best thing is to put them in storage spots in your home.
You will see that things will seem a bit brighter and airy when you are finished. Happy spring cleaning. You can do it!
