When you think of ways to save money, the first thing that comes to mind is coupons!
But...what if you don't want to use coupons? Now don't get me wrong saving money using coupons is a great way to get some extra money in your bank. However, using coupons isn't for everyone. Some people don't have the time or the desire to coupon.
Don't fret! There are plenty of other ways to save without touching a single coupon.
Price matching is a great way to save money without touching a single coupon! Don't worry price matching isn't as hard as it sounds, in fact it is actually pretty easy. Here is an example of how price matching works:
Your local grocery store has bananas on sale for 29 cents a pound.
Wal-Mart has them at 39 cents a pound.
You want the sale price but don't want to go to visit two grocery stores, since you do all of your grocery shopping at Wal-Mart.
When you are checking out, you tell the cashier that such and such grocery store has the bananas for 29 cents a pound. Wal-Mart will match that price! Seriously, it is that simple.
Buy in Season Produce
Buying produce that is in season will save you a lot of money! Buying pears in the spring is going to cost a lot more than buying pears during the winter. Knowing what is in season will help you save money and will give you the opportunity to try out new fruits and vegetables. There is a whole list here on when fruits and vegetables are in season.
Menu planning in my opinion is one of the best ways to save money. Knowing what your family will be eating helps avoid last-minute trips to the grocery store. Sit down once a week, once a month or whatever works for you and plan a menu. Doing your menu planning once a week and looking to see what is on sale at the grocery store will help you save even more! Remember, menu planning doesn't have to be hard or an all day affair. Make your menu plan simple by keeping go-to recipes on hand!
How do you save without coupons? I'd love to hear about creative ways your family has come up with.
