How to relieve constipation at home

See also

Constipation is not just annoying, it is painful at times. Constipation happens when there isn't enough water or fiber in the digestive tract. Fecal matter becomes dry and hard for the body to move through and eliminate. This painful affliction can be relieved at home without the used of harsh chemicals. It's been found that the body can become too reliant on drugs that induce bowel movements, so the best course of action is to go natural. Let's look at some of the best ways you can help your body cure constipation without all those harsh chemicals.

Fiber
Fiber bulks up waster and helps it absorb more water. When the stool is bulky and has enough moisture the body can move waste through the small intestine better. Muscle contractions push the waste down and out of the body – without moisture there isn't enough lubrication to do this properly. In fact, without enough moisture the waste can become impacted. This means that the waste becomes a large mass that must be removed manually by a nurse or doctor. If that sounds unpleasant, it's because it, very much so.

Fiber containing foods are the best way to go, but if you can eat more fiber than you already are, try one of the fiber supplements on the market. They are very helpful in increasing bulk of stools to get rid of constipation.

Lubricate
Help get things moving by lubricating your inner workings. This is easy to do – add more fat to your diet. Good fats are those that help feed your cells and they will also smooth the way for waste. Olive oil is perhaps the best choice with coconut oil coming in a close second. Both are perfect for the body's nutritional needs and will help move waste through without a hitch. For severe constipation, try swallowing a teaspoon of oil to get things going.

Prunes and Apples
Apples and prunes are both well known for their ability to get rid of constipation. Probably one of the best cures to get rid of waste that seems to not want to come...is to drink a concoction of prune and apple juice. Simple mix together a half cup of apple juice and a half cup of prune juice. Warm in a microwave until hot – like coffee. Drink while still warm. This concoction usually works in a few hours.
