Wearing blue eye shadow doesn’t work for everyone, but Nicole Richie pulled it off at the “70th Annual Golden Globe Awards” last night, January 13, complimenting her light blue Naeem Khan gown.
Fear of blue eye shadow stems back to the days when Tammy Faye Baker covered her face in war paint, however the fashion designer reemerged a look long forgotten at the “Golden Globes”.
Caution should be taken when wearing blue makeup because Nicole Richie didn’t douse her eyelids in all blue; she focused the metallic light blue eye shadow on the inner part of her lower eyelids, creating an accent for her amber eyes and added purple eyeliner on her lower lash line and a heavier black on top, perhaps even false eyelashes that opened up her already big, beautiful eyes, although that information was not provided in her makeup artist’s step-by-step tutorial in Style Bistro.
The look was completed with a pale, matte pink lipstick, making Nicole Richie’s eyes the focal point of her makeup, becoming an ideal accessory for her “Golden Globe” red carpet fashion.
Nicole Richie’s makeup artist, Beau Nelson, used Elizabeth Arden cosmetics to create her “Golden Globe” retro look, although it is clear from her pictures that additional colors were used. Her eyes were made up with Beautiful Color Eye Shadow in “Sky” and Ceramide Ultra Lipstick in “Cameo”, both available on Long Island at Ulta Beauty in Garden City and Levittown.
Nicole Richie’s “Golden Globe” makeup has been labeled “retro glamour”, however, her red carpet look mimics much of the beauty seen during Spring Fashion Week.
The 31-year-old “Fashion Star” has always been a trendsetter, creating her own line of “boho-chic” clothes, “Nicole Richie,” available at Macy’s, which can be found on Long Island in Garden City, Massapequa and Valley Stream.
