From Jackie Tomlin, "I am often approached on the subject of meditation". "For some, meditation comes easy while others seem to struggle with it". "The first step in meditation is preparing you to meditate".
This process should begin with the debris and clutter on your mind. It may take practice but this is the time to put all of your worries to the side. For those that are good with visualization, try placing everything on your mind in an imaginary box, and store it on a shelf to review later. Try to take the point of view that meditation is your own little personal getaway, although you are not physically going anywhere.
Your next step will be to get rid of all distractions. Televisions, cell phones, computers, pets, family etc. This is when you need to be alone. The same as you boxed your worries, step away from the distractions, and box them away. If you cannot be completely alone then you will want this alone time in a room away from everyone, and ask not to be disturbed.
The final step is your environment that you choose to meditate. This does not have to be anything fancy, but it does need to be comfortable and appealing to you. This could be a corner of your bedroom, the guest room, or any special place that you choose. It is important that you find the space inviting and uncluttered.
You can make your space inviting by adding a few of your favorite things. These things can include candles, pictures, colors, or anything that you like. The importance of not being surrounded by clutter is that this may become a distraction to you as you try to find that relaxed state that you are seeking. If you follow these steps, you may find that meditation is not as bad as you once had thought.
Meditation is one of the upcoming topics by Jackie for Central Virginia Psychic Development and Paranormal Research. This local group meets once a month, and everyone is welcome to join.
