Many Ohioans are expecting flooding after temperatures rise causing snow and ice to melt. There are many ways to prepare ahead of time to lessen the damage or prevent it.
- One way to prepare for the possible flooding in your area is to clear storm drains of snow and debris. City workers will be doing this but help them by clearing storm drains in your neighborhood.
- Place your lower level belongings on stacked pallets and save your furniture and other valuables from water damage.
- Call the American Red Cross for a pallet kit if you live in a river area that is prone to flooding. Residents need to call their local chapter for a kit to elevate belongings. These items are limited so contact your local chapter as soon as possible by calling (877) 410 3373 or phone your local Emergency Management Agency (EMA).
