How to play disc golf on the "Lost Course" in Bend, Oregon: Part 1

Central Oregon has several great disc golf courses and the "Lost Course" is hands down a local favorite.

Located off of Century Drive on the way to Mt. Bachelor, the course is accessed from a dirt road across the street from Widgi Creek Golf Course. When the road forks, take a left and you will see a parking lot further down on your left hand side. The hole 1 tee-box is a few yards from the parking lot.

There are certain things that you will want to bring with you on the course. It can get very hot during the summer months, so make sure you bring sun glasses, sunscreen, and a must have...mosquito repellent. If you forget it, you will be sorry and bite-ridden. Make sure you bring plenty of water as well and a snack because the time it takes to play all 19 holes can range from 1 hour to 3 hours depending on how many friends you bring.

Part 1 will focus on the first 5 holes and will include photos. Instead of baskets, each hole is made of a wooden post with 3 coffee cans connected from the top that are painted red. You will definitely have a harder time with putts than you would with a standard disc golf basket.

Navigating the holes can be difficult if you have not played before, so follow the smaller foot trails and you should be fine. A map of the course will be provided in a future posting.
