We're always hearing tips about how to go "green" around the house by installing fluorescent light bulbs, programmable thermostats and low-flow faucets and all the while, we're overlooking one of the most obvious areas we can all go green--eliminating all the paper products around your home, especially in your child's lunch box.

Kids Konserve LLC is combating the waste of the everyday lunch box. In 1995, almost 20 years ago, more than 200 of the world's landfills were full. With Kids Konserve's reusable Waste-Free Lunch Kits your child's lunch can help make a difference for the environment.

Kids Konserve is partnering with schools around the country to encourage kids to bring a waste-free lunch. Here in the Chicago area, Kids Konserve has partnered with St. Paul of the Cross School in Park Ridge, Ill., which has declared all Wednesdays to be “Waste Free Wednesdays.” To encourage reducing and reusing, the school asks parents to buy in bulk, and pack reusable storage containers, reusable sandwich wraps, reusable utensils and cloth napkins.

Did you know that every 2.9 days, the bottles that are thrown away could circle the equator? With our population getting larger, this epidemic will only increase. The average student uses up to five plastic bags in their lunch box daily. By sending your child to school with a waste-free lunch packed in reusable containers and wraps, you can help cut back on the over 100 million plastic bags, which take more than 500 years to break down, that are thrown away annually.

With each person throwing away an average of four pounds of trash a day adding up to over 1,400 pounds of trash a year, using reusable containers makes sense. Kids Konserve is doing their part to educate children and parents on the importance of reuse and packing waste-free lunches and snacks with their entire line of BPA-, phthalate-, lead- and PVC-free reusable food packing and storage solutions.

Kids Konserve offers an alternative to paper including 304 food-grade stainless steel beverage bottles and their Beach and Moss Insulated Lunch Sacks, which are made from 8.5 recycled plastic water bottles each.

Kids Konserve products are available at, www.KidsKonserve.com and at select retail locations. In the Chicago area, you can find Kids Konserve products at A Green Horizon, 1148 Central Avenue in Wilmette, Ill., 847-256-2754, and at Healthy Green Goods at 702 Main Street in Evanston, Ill., 847-864-9098.
