Life as a new mom is so very exciting and fulfilling, but many new moms feel a lonely void if they don’t have a strong network of friends. Even moms with plenty of childless friends yearn for a fellow mother to talk to about their child’s idiosyncrasies and accomplishments.

Joining a moms group is an excellent way to meet other women in your neighborhood or city who share similar views on parenting. is a wonderful resource for women looking for moms groups. There is something for everyone on the site- and if you don’t see a group that meets your needs, you can start your own group.

Among the wide range of groups available are mommy & me yoga groups, breastfeeding support groups, stay at home mom groups, and earth friendly parenting groups. If you prefer a neighborhood group, there are groups for every city around the Denver Metro, and even some specific neighborhoods, such as Washington Park.  Sweet Beginnings has its own Meetup group for women who frequent the downtown Littleton baby boutique.

Some meetup groups charge a minimal fee for membership, while others are completely free. Free groups are more likely to meet at group member’s homes or at a park, whereas a paid group may meet at a store or community center.  Some groups use fees to cover the expense of activities or food.

A meetup group is ideal for meeting other like-minded mamas. You can set up play dates for your child and engage in some adult conversation at the same time. Don’t be shy about joining a group full of unknown women; these women joined a meetup group for the very same reason that you are considering joining.

Motherhood is an amazing voyage, and it’s even better if you have other mamas to share it with.
