See also

When used correctly, social media can have huge positive benefits for your company. On the other hand, when used incorrectly it can equally as ineffective and detrimental to your success as a brand. As help as social media can be for marketing, advertising and getting your name out there, it is equally important that you are aware of how affective your social media marketing attempts are. Here are some ways that you can measure your social media engagement in order to determine if you need to change your efforts.

Consider Your Numbers
The first thing that you can do to try and determine your success and effectiveness with social media is to simply do a quick analysis of the amount of feedback that you get on your profile. For example, if you went from getting just a few dozen likes on your brands Facebook page to getting a few hundred, or even thousands, of likes, then that is a good predictor that something is working for your social media impact. Then again, if you find that your numbers are stagnant in that they are unable to increase any further, then your approach may need something to generate your efforts once again. By actively taking note of the type of feedback you get, you can have a better idea of how affective your social media campaigns are.

Consider Your Influence
More than just having people interact with your social media, you have to aim for your content to influence people. After all, you wouldn’t hire a babysitter or a nanny just to watch your kids, but rather you’d want them to influence them in a positive way. The same is true with your social media. In order to measure influence, consider the type of people who are responding and interacting with your social media page. Furthermore, evaluate whether or not those people share your content with the people that they know. You should aim for a large amount of average people to help your content spread. However, if you can get a few larger outlets that already have tons of followers, then the likelihood of your content to grow more quickly is higher.

Bring It All Together
If you are a company that has a variety of different social media outlets that you use, then it can be hard to keep everything organized properly. And when things aren’t organized, it’s even harder to see what is working for you and what isn’t. Consider apps and programs that help you bring together all of your social media channels. In doing so, you can be better organized with all of your profiles. Furthermore, keeping things organized will also help you better compare the content that you have. Therefore you may realize it’s time to start putting more emphasis towards certain campaigns, while putting less effort towards the less fruitful profiles.

You should always be aiming to make your social media influence and network much better and stronger. After all, the potential for social media continues to grow with each passing day. But in order to make sure that you are actually getting the most out of your social media, consider the tips mentioned here to help you maximize your efforts.
