It's New Year's Eve and the pressure is on to find a kissing partner before the clock strikes midnight, especially when you're single. It's all some people are talking about. Do you already have someone special in mind? Are you hoping to meet someone special? Whatever the case, here are few quick tips to give your partner or date a kiss to remember.
Choose the right venue.
There are tons of New Year's Eve parties happening all over Los Angeles. Some are very public affairs while others are much more intimate. Wherever you decide to ring in the New Year, make sure it's some place where you and your date feel comfortable being together. If you really want to make your New Year's Eve kiss memorable and special, try going some place that makes you feel like it's just the two of you against the world. It's a great way to create new memories while making that first kiss of the new year extra special.
Give your lips the star treatment.
Whether you're a man or a woman, you want your lips to look as kissable as possible. Of course, this includes having fresh breath as well. Gentleman, make sure to keep some cherry or peppermint Chapstick handy to keep your lips moist and from chapping. Ladies, give yourself succulent lips with a vibrant red lipstick. Lip gloss could work too but sometimes that can create a sticky lips or a slip-and-slide kind of effect.
Don't kiss at the same time as everyone else.
It's customary to kiss someone immediately after the countdown to one. Make your kiss a little more special by locking eyes for a moment before you kiss. Los Angeles dating expert Yue Xu from Singlefied.com recommends to hold his or her face once the clock strikes midnight and say Happy New Year before going in for a passionate kiss. She also recommends having your own countdown so you can share a New Year's kiss all to yourselves.
Be receptive and go easy on the tongue.
"Be gentle and let the chemistry the two of you feel be your roadmap," says best-selling author Marcia Reece. "Embrace her with your arms and take it easy on the tongue...there's no rush," says the author of "Secrets of the Marriage Mouse". The last thing you want someone to remember about kissing you is how you tried to deep throat him with your tongue, or slobbered all over her face. Start with two slow kisses, one with your upper lip on top of his upper lip and one with your bottom lip below her bottom lip, before working in a little tongue action. Be receptive to the pace of the kiss and reciprocate accordingly.
Go for the classic kiss-and-dip.
Pretend like you're a movie star for the evening with a theatrical kiss. Ladies, grab your guy around his neck. Gentlemen, grab your girl around her waist. As everyone is counting down, you two are looking deep into each other's eyes with anticipation and a warm embrace. When the clock strikes midnight, the ladies are going to lean backwards while the gentlemen lean forward for that epic Hollywood kiss usually reserved for the silver screen.
Have a great and safe New Year's Eve, everyone. No go forth and kiss someone like it's the end of the world.
