HOMEMADE PLAYDOUGH from KING ARTHUR FLOUR
HOMEMADE PLAYDOUGH - Remember homemade Playdough? This is the Playdough your kids want. Don't have kids? Make it yourself and be a kid again! It's soft, pliable, colorful and it even smells good!
King Arthur Flour Newsletter
I regularly get the King Arthur Flour's email newsletter. You should too! I look forward to it, as there's always something new and exciting to look at. New recipes, new baking equipment, new ingredients, new cookbooks, new stuff! So, when this newsletter popped up in my inbox and I saw, "DO play with your food", I was more than intrigued! I HAD to open it and see what kind of food we would be playing with.
Homemade Playdough
I was tickled, and quite emotional too, as I sat there conjuring up memories I had while making and playing with Playdough. I clicked on the link which lead me to their website. The recipe seemed vaguely familiar after so many years. It takes just 5 basic ingredients, about 5-10 minutes, no bake time, plus some color if you wish, and you have homemade Playdough! I checked out their blog for the expanded How-To recipe. When I say expanded, I'm mean the e-x-p-a-n-d-e-d recipe! Bakers' Banter author, MaryJane Robbins, didn't just included the Playdough recipe, she also posted 27 detailed photos to show you exactly how to make it too! I quickly emailed my KA friend Allison, and asked for permission to use the photos, and to tell you how great King Arthur really is. Of course she said yes!
Bakers' Banter Blog
If you haven't been to King Arthur's blog yet, you "knead" (sorry, couldn't resist!) to go check it out. Bakers' Banter is loaded with baking tips, photos, how-to's and recipes. There are recipes for bread, biscotti, cookies, cakes, pizza, pies, biscuits, and so on, and on and on. Needless to say, you're missing something by not subscribing to Bakers' Banter!
Play With Your Food!
All this to say, Go Play with Your Food! Even though this Playdough is NOT meant to be eaten, it is made with King Arthur Flour, easy to find ingredients, all natural oils and colors. So, even if a teeny bit did happen to make its way to someone's mouth, it's not toxic. It'll taste pretty bad with all that salt, but it's quite safe.
