How to make chocolate fudge: An easy fudge recipe anyone can make

Easy Homemade Fudge Recipe

Fudge is one of the decadent treats that comes with the holiday season.  And contrary to what most home bakers believe, fudge is easy to make.  There are many fudge recipes that have been handed down for the years, often a variation of the popular recipes like Carnation Fudge and Kraft Foods' Fantasy Fudge.  This fudge recipe is a hybrid of the two, resulting in perfect fudge every single time.

Easy Homemade Fudge Recipe

  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter, sliced
  • 2/3 cup evaported milk (NOT sweetened condensed milk)
  • 1 7-ounce jar of marshmallow creme
  • 1 12-ounce bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract

How To Make Fudge

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, and evaporated milk.
  2. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, and continue to boil a full five minutes.  Stir continuously to avoid burning the fudge.
  3. Remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate chips, marshmallow creme, and vanilla extract.  Continue to stir the fudge until everything has melted completely.
  4. Pour into a foil-lined 13x9 pan, and allow the fudge to set, several hours or overnight.

Other Fudge Variations

  • Substitute mint extract for the vanilla to make mint fudge
  • Double the recipe for extra thick, candy shop style fudge
  • Sprinkle the top of the fudge with crushed candy canes for a festive look and added texture
  • Stir in your favorite nuts, such as walnuts to make a nutty fudge
  • Substitute cinnamon chips for the chocolate chips for a new flavor of fudge
  • When the fudge has cooled some, add in 1 cup mini-marshmallows and  cup peanuts to make rocky road fudge
  • Substitute Kahlua, Chambord, or Bailey's Irish Cream for the vanilla for a more adult flavor
