How to make a happy new year card (Photos)

Happy new year! A festive way to celebrate the new year is by sending a friend a handmade card, and the only materials needed for this project consist of:

• blank paper
• a pencil
• colored pencils
• a reference photograph

This card making project was very cheap, and following steps were used to create this card:

Step 1:

The reference photograph was used as inspiration for drawing a landscape of Mount Baldy with a palm tree on a handmade card.

Step 2:

The text of "happy new year" was sketched over the illustration of Mount Baldy.

Step 3:

The sky was colored in with a light-blue colored pencil.

Step 4:

The peaks of Mount Baldy were colored in with a violet-blue colored pencil, and the foreground of the landscape illustration was shaded in with the same color.

Step 5:

The fronds of the palm tree were shaded in with light and dark green colored pencils to create dimension.

Step 6:

The "happy new year" text was colored in with a ruby colored pencil.

Step 7:

A personalized message was written on the inside of the card before sending it to a friend.
