Nintendo's new Wii U Console is already a lot of fun for those who own one, but what about the GamePad that comes with it? It's definitely a revolutionary piece of technology and it's extremely important to keep the entire device clean at all times. Both the Wii U console and GamePad are essentially fingerprint magnets but this isn't a major issue. To clean your Wii U GamePad, follow the steps to avoid any potential damages.
1. Turn your Gamepad off
It's very important to turn your GamePad off before you start cleaning it. With the device on, you are at risk of electrical shock. When the screen is off, you are able to see every little smudge and all foreign materials with ease. If you are using a screen protector, you may notice a few pieces of dust under it. Ignore these so you don't end up having to purchase more screen protectors.
2. Use a Cotton Swab to get into corners
Use a dry cotton swab or small piece of cloth to remove any dirtiness in the corners of the screen. Make sure to remove all crumbs and dust that can easily be removed. Avoid using pressure as the GamePad is slightly fragile. Remember to be very thorough with collecting all dust in every crevice of the device.
3. Use a Damp Washcloth or Baby Wipe and gently scrub
You need to be very careful not to get your washcloth too wet or you could risk causing permanent damage to your GamePad. Remember not to use a paper towel as you could accidentally scratch the screen. Wet your washcloth to where it's only damp and not too wet. Squeeze all excess water out and make sure none will drip out as you are cleaning. Do not use any kind of sprays for this process. Now, with the cloth, wash the front of the GamePad from the left to right side thoroughly. Skip the screen and do that part last. Once you get to the screen, make sure to get the corners first and wash your screen thoroughly. Once the front is clean, feel free to wash the sides and back of the GamePad. If you would like to use a Baby Wipe, keep a separate dry cloth right next to you as a Baby Wipe will cause unwanted wanted "water marks" all over the device. Also, a baby wipe will provide much more wetness than a damp cloth and it's important to keep your GamePad from being soaked.
4. Dry your Gamepad
If you used a Washcloth to dry your GamePad, you can either wipe it off with a separate dry Washcloth or you can let it sit for about 10 minutes. If you used a Baby Wipe, it's highly recommended to dry it with a separate dry piece of cloth as soon as possible. As soon as your GamePad is completely dry, you can turn on your Wii U console and return to your games!
