Marriage to your military spouse is a very unique relationship. You are married to someone, who serves their country and is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your spouse may have to get up at 4 a.m. for a morning physical training and may not come home until 9 or 10 p.m. For many military members, work starts very early and goes late into the afternoon or evening. Sometimes duty for your spouse is a 12 hour shift or 24 hour rotating shift. Your spouse is not permitted to call in sick and is required to be available at any given time throughout the day, week…. It may seem that the military comes before your marriage, but this is not the case.

To keep your marriage romantic takes a little creative thinking and just a tad bit of time. A couple of tips when it comes to being romantic-- it does not have to cost a lot of money nor does it have to consume your entire day. A little bit of effort will bring an exciting reward!

A few ideas to bring romance to your marriage are: leave a love note for your spouse in a place where he or she can find it and read it throughout the day, make your spouse a special meal, take time to laugh with your spouse, or when you think that you have no time and are up to your eyeballs in work or other tasks, stop what you are doing, go to your spouse, look into his or her eyes, and gently kiss your spouse as if it were the first time (take kiss poll at: http://www.qwanz.com/newpoll/2103/)!

Bringing romance back into your marriage can be simple and rewarding. Remember, just be creative and take a moment to express your love for one another.
