It's a beautiful thing when you are in love. Sometimes we get so caught up in being in love, we tend to forget the people who were there before we started a romantic relationship. Our friends are the people who are close to us and sometimes we call them family. Friends keep us sane and keep us grounded. We must keep our friends when we are in a relationship because we need to keep our individuality in the relationship. Here are some tips on how to keep your friends while you are in a relationship.
1.Make Lunch Dates With Your Friends: Going on dates with your spouse/significant other is great, but you penciling lunch dates with your friends are worthwhile, too. It helps you let your hair down and you can just be yourself. It also gives you a shoulder to cry on or vent to on subjects you feel you can’t talk to your spouse/significant other about. Plus, you can talk as much as you want without anyone getting annoyed or wanting you to shut up. Make as many dates as needed.
2. Go on a Girl’s Night Out/Guy’s Night Out: This is a must! You should be able to go out with a group of your friends and just have a good ol’ time. Go get some drinks and kick back. Ladies, do not get an attitude if your man is going out with his friends. Having an attitude is a turn off. Please don’t make him feel guilty either. Just because you don’t like some of your spouse/significant other friends doesn't mean you hinder your mate from spending time with them. Go have fun!
3. Go on Vacation With Your Friends: Getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city and life, will help you keep your sanity. If you haven't seen your friends in a long time, a vacation with your friends can help bond the friendship and it will keep you from being up under your spouse/significant other. Having some space between you and your spouse/significant other is a great thing. It will help you realize that life is not wrapped around your relationship and there are other people to experience life with. Also, you can do activities your spouse/significant other doesn't like to do with your friends. Just enjoy your time with your friends because its precious and priceless.
4. Become Friends With Your Parents: Many people do not realize that their parents can turn out to be their best friends. Your parents have much wisdom way beyond your years. Anything they give you advice on, if you ask them or let them give you, comes from love and have your best interest at heart. When there is discourse in your relationship, you can lean on your parents for great advice, instead of your friends. Your parents will want to help you keep your relationship healthy, while on the other hand your friends may have other motives about the advice they give you. Plus, you don't want the world to know every detail of your relationship and life. Your parents can be that one best friend you have all your life.
