Unless you have never made New Years resolutions, you have most likely broken them. Occasionally one will slip through and get done, but it’s rare. The reason it is so rare to keep new years resolutions is because they are made with out much thought and generally no planning. To be successful, you need to have a plan. The new years resolutions needs to be specific. If you say you want to get in better shape, it has almost no chance of succeeding.
The first part of the plan is 2 good reasons why you want your new years resolutions to succeed. Sit down and come up with 2 reasons that mean something to you. As an example, if your resolution is to lose 50 pounds. Your reasons could be to get a new wardrobe, and to lower your blood pressure so you can stop taking blood pressure medicine. These reasons give you a rewarding reason for you to succeed with the new years resolutions. Make sure you write them down, and look at them daily.
The second part of the plan is determine how you are going to lose 50 pounds. The plan should include diet and exercise programs. There are hundreds of options for this. You need to find a plan you can live with, and get it set up and get your mind ready ahead of time. When the day comes to start, your ready to make it work.
Part 3 of the plan is to set smaller goals on the way to your bigger goal. Set a goal for each 10 pounds with a time period. Reward yourself when you reach a small goal. Not by eating wrong. Make sure that the small goals are reachable and healthy. Don’t set your first goal for 1 week to lose 10 pounds. It’s not healthy and not likely to succeed.
The next part is to focus on the positives of the plan. Look at how far you have come, not how far you have to go. Believe in yourself, if you really want to reach the goal, you can do it. Stay optimistic.
The final part is to start slowly. The best way to be successful with your new years resolutions are to start with a goal that you can reach. If you are really excited and ready to go, don’t set that goal too high. If you make the first goal early, that’s positive. You can just reach your final goal faster. Don’t go faster than is healthy for you. You can use these same principles to reach any resolution. If you have a well thought out plan, with reasonable goals, you can accomplish anything, and succeed at your New Years resolutions.
