A new year is right around the corner and many of us are determined to live a healthier, better life. What better way to do this than feeding your body the stuff it needs to be well?
In comes the almighty spinach.
This leafy, green food is full of the nutrients and vitamins your body needs, and can be purchased quite inexpensively, too. It is versatile, and can be eaten cooked or raw. It can add great color to almost any dish, and can even be well hidden in others.
Still not sure how to get your family to actually eat (or drink) the stuff? Here are some ideas found online to help you out.
- Tasty Green Smoothie (CenterCutCook.com)
- Spinach and Artichoke Wonderpot (Budgetbytes.com)
- Triple Chocolate Surprise Brownies (yummly.com)
- Tuna Salad Wraps (skinnytaste.com)
- Garlic-Butter Spinach and Pasta (diethood.com)
If you still can’t get your family to eat the spinach found in these recipes there is still hope! First, try serving it raw if you haven’t done so already. Cooked spinach can sometimes look (and taste) slimy and make incorporating it very difficult. Throw some in salads, put some on hamburgers instead of lettuce, and sprinkle some over pizza (healthy, of course) to start off with.
As your family starts to be more comfortable with spinach, start experimenting more. Kids, especially love to be involved in the preparation, so let them lend a hand. This will encourage them to try out their spinach creations.
