Michael's craft store's all have a classroom space in-store, that they use to teach courses. They offer courses on a wide variety of creative skills, depending on location: cake decorating, scrapbooking, floral design, and jewelry making are a few examples, and you can check out more of their available classes online at But, their classroom space now has a new purpose - as a meeting place for you and your friends to throw a free crafting party!

How to host a free crafting party:

You'll have to visit or call your local Michael's store and talk to an associate to get specific details for your favorite location, and schedule a date.

Once you have a date set, start inviting friends to come join you for a fun event! You'll get access to their amazing space to spread out supplies and create some great handmade pieces, and can go shop for new supplies as you work, if inspiration hits you while you're working. Their helpful sales staff can help answer questions and guide you to what you need, and suggest other cool materials to try out.

There are so many different ways that you can use this free space! Whether you have a group that already meets regularly, a group of girlfriends you don't get to see often enough, want to start a new meet-up, or just throw a one-time party, Michael's is a great gathering place.

  • Have a book club? Why not schedule a meeting at Michael's, and plan a craft based on the story you're reading?
  • MOPS or playdate group? Plan a fun craft that kids can help with.
