How to Honor World Hemophilia Day, April 17, 2013

By Michelle Carr Crowe, Silicon Valley guide and San Jose homes selling expert

Given the tragic bombing and numerous bloody images from this weekend’s bombings at the Boston Marathon, it’s appropriate to acknowledge World Hemophilia Day, today, April 17, 2013.

The goal of World Hemophilia Day is to increase worldwide awareness of hemophilia (a hereditary genetic bleeding and blood-clotting disease) and other bleeding disorders.

The April 17 date was first honored in 1989 by the World Federation of Haemophilia (this is the organization's correct spelling) in honor of WFH founder Frank Schnabel’s birthday.

One of the best ways to acknowledge and honor World Hemophilia Day is to donate blood through the local American Red Cross.
