How to help Haiti's animal victims

Most of us have heard about the disaster in Haiti and many of us have given to the Red Cross or other groups working to help the people of Haiti survive and recover from the devastating earthquake and its aftermath. But what about Haiti's animals?

Never fear, help is coming for them too. The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), along with the ASPCA and a number of other animal welfare groups including American Humane, Best Friends, the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International have joined together to create the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (ARCH).

Together these groups are gathering food, water, medical supplies and volunteers to go to Haiti and help the animal victims of this disaster including livestock, pets and a large stray dog population in the country.

If you can donate, there are several options, including: the IFAW, WSPA, the ASPCA or one of the other organizations listed above.

If you want to volunteer, check out the Best Friends website for more information.
