Living in the moment is a term that refers to focusing your mind on the actual present moment. It is a quiet observant state of mind in which you are free of worries and concerns.
It is true that modern science has shown that regular meditation helps to cultivate this state of relaxation in everyday life, but there’s good news you do not have to be a disciplined monk to experience blissful moments of peace and calmness, no not at all.
You see God wants us to calm down and enjoy each moment of life much more then we actually do. God doesn’t want us to be constantly burdened down with worries and fears. Jesus said “come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am meek and lowly in heart. And ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30) Well what is a yoke you may say? It actually means a bar of wood constructed to unite two animals (usually oxen), for the purpose of working in fields and figuratively it is a symbol of slavery (1 Tim 6:1).
The yoke is firmly bound upon the neck of the oxen to prevent it from falling or shaking off. Now can you imagine a yoke being bound around the neck of man? This would certainly cause his strength to weaken as he would fall under the heavy load. Jesus gave his life on the cross for our freedom and peace. And if we look at his life we see a life of peace, meekness and simplicity. He spoke the truth and he lived the truth; God desires the same of us, but we cannot do this without the spirit of God. The moment you were born-again God came to live within your heart to strengthen you day by day. But you have to realize that his word (Bible) is a lamp unto our feet (Psalm 119:105). It is like a light that leads our way in the darkness. God’s word renews our minds day by day and it is unlike any other book because it is the actual inspired, infallible, unchangeable word of God!
If you want to have a peaceful, calm mind then start meditating on God’s word and start speaking it into your life. I also recommend a book entitled “Battlefield of the Mind” in this book Joyce Meyer, “world renowned preacher and teacher” speaks all about the mind and how to maintain peace and joy in this life. She also has another wonderful book entitled “Change Your Words Change Your Life”, in this book she emphasizes the power of our spoken words. If you take the time to read this book you won’t be sorry it will cause you to have a shift in consciousness.
But it is also crucial to remember that the word of God (Bible) is what gives true peace because God is its author through the inspiration of the Holy Ghost upon men of God.
Friends spend more time in prayer and more time thinking about God’s goodness and mercy. He loves you so much and peace of mind is his specialty. God bless you all!
