Just because it's a luxury vacation it doesn't have to come with a luxury price tag. Here are a few tips to help you have a luxury experience on a budget.
- It's always worth joining the hotel and flight loyalty programs. By clocking up your airmiles and showing that you're a loyal, returning customer you could reap the rewards and benefit from free upgrades or money off.
- Look out for travel coupons in the newspaper, supermarkets, and online. You are sure to find a discount that will either help you out once you have reached your destination or will help you get there.
- Before choosing your 'luxury destination' do your research and compare how much food and drink is once you'reover there as well as the current exchange rate. Places such as Sri Lanka, Bali and Egypt all offer exclusivity and indulgences, but you will find they are much cheaper than other locations.
- It is also worth finding out when the cheapest time to go to your chosen location is, for example if you wanted to travel to Cancun then anytime after Labor Day up until mid-November is the best time to go
- .If you don't mind taking a bit of a gamble then you could opt for a last minute deal, but be sure to book it straight away, as the next day it may be gone.
- Secret hotels and holidays are also perfect if you don't mind where you go. You could end up embarking on a 5-star holiday, the down side, however, is that you won't know where you're going until you're committed.
- Choose your flight days and times carefully. Generally, flying on a weekday works out cheaper than doing so on a weekend. Flying throughout the night is also usually cheaper than during the day.
