Staffing is a very important aspect of any organization since without right amount of staffing or a lack of good quality workers, an organization can suffer.
Training is also extremely important for employees to have the working knowledge of their jobs, the product, the processes to follow, and the customers they intend to serve.
As a supervisor there can arise various challenges in trying to be emphatic to the staff they are responsible for as well as produce the kind of results the company expects. A low level of performance cannot be solely blamed on training since at times even when excellent trained has been given to employees they still do not perform well.
Lyons (2009) brought up the point that when employees work together as a team improvement in their performance can happen incrementally, while individually their personal performance might continue to be stagnate without the motivation from others.
Some of the staffing factors that could be contributing to this problem are the level of training that is completed by new employees.
Having a dedicated trainer for this particular job function would be very helpful in improving the quality of the tuning devices that are produced. Employees might feel that their job has become mundane and there is not enthusiasm to complete the duties each day.
An issue that most organizations are presented with is the necessity for a training department. Csaba (2005) noted in research that was conducted; only one third of small firms with 10-49 employees thought it was necessary to have organized training, for organizations with 50-249 only every second of them offered training opportunities to their staff and a prepared training plan.
As a supervisor of this department, there is some flexibility given by management to make the job a bit more exciting for the employees. The workers might have become stagnate in their performance because there is no other incentive to do their jobs well other than their steady paycheck.
Allowing the staff to listen to an MP3 player while they work if they have proven they have high quality scores could be a reward for them. In addition having a top performer of the month award will create a competition for the staff and possibly have them perform better.
