How to Get your New Site Ranked Quickly in the Google Search Results

Getting a new site ranked highly in Google search results can be somewhat difficult for many business owners, particularly small companies. Why? Because Google gives priority to older sites.

Google does this because they trust sites that have not only been around for a considerable amount of time, but also those who are still doing well. In a recent test, we ran over 2,000 URLS and over 100 keywords, and we looked to see the median age of sites ranking.

We were shocked to find out that out of the 2,000, most were registered at least 10 years ago.

For new sites, it can be hard to compete with the older, grandfathered domains. There are, however, a few methods you can use to help your new site rank quickly in Google search results, and they’re actually fairly easy to implement.

Start With an Exact Match Domain

If you haven’t already registered or promoted your domain, you need to register an exact match domain. Recently, Google launched an algorithmic filter that devalued exact match domains, but this won’t affect you if you launch your website the right way.

Once you register an exact match domain, you’ll need to build a few links to it. In the past, you could register an exact match domain and rank without links. However, following the EMD update, you now have to complement the EMD with a few links, but the barrier to entry is much lower compared to non-exact match domains.

Knowing this, by making the right moves, you can still get keyword advantage from using an exact match domain. By providing a significant amount of unique and high quality, keyword-targeted content, you won’t have to worry about Google targeting your site much longer.

The Importance of Link Velocity

When you start your new site, you want to work to build links as quickly as possible. This tells Google that your site is authoritative, fresh and one that’s very popular with users. It’s generating a lot of notice, and therefore a lot of links.

You want your link velocity to be greater than other sites using the same keywords, so you may have to work pretty hard to get all your links up in a timely fashion. However, you will rank faster than other sites if you have a higher link velocity.

Now, a lot of people worry of exactly how quickly they should be building links for their site, as they assume that building too fast will trigger some sort of Google red flag.

There is no shadow of a doubt that there are hundreds of new sites that launch on a daily basis that get a high amount of press, which ultimately leads to numerous outstanding links. When looking more closely into this, think of how Google sees these huge spikes in news and social activity for the sites that really push for links-- they probably think that a majority of these links are legit.

On the other hand, if you’re pushing for links and have very little social activity, this may indeed grab the attention of the eyes of Google in a negative way.

With that being said, you technically can get a huge surge in links, especially if they make it to the news or become a trend socially, but if not, then you should be very careful in terms of link velocity.

Social Media Matters

Because social media is largely responsible for driving a lot of traffic these days, it’s crucial that you take advantage of all your social media platforms in order to boost your site’s ranking in Google.

Furthermore, before you even launched your site, you probably noticed certain keywords that have a Squidoo, Pinterest or YouTube page ranking.

What you need to do is NOT jump on that bandwagon. Instead, look for keywords that don’t have Squidoo, Pinterest or YouTube pages already and create them.

This will help boost your Google search ranking quickly and efficiently while making you an authority on a certain topic.

By using exact keywords that you’re targeting, building links at a rapid pace using the ideal keywords, then employing social media, you’ll be able to raise your site’s Google rank quickly. Your ranking will also improve since the content you created will be sitting on domains that have been around for a considerable amount of time and have high domain authority, helping you get around the age issue.

Employing all three of these techniques will help you to bypass the age filters set up by Google and help your site rank in the top of search results as fast as possible after it is launched.
