How to get started on holistic wellness

The term "holistic" describes the connection between your mind, body, and soul. Living in a state of holistic well-being suggests a harmonious, healthy relationship between the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of yourself. 

Step 1: Release the past

The emotional baggage of your past actions and experiences must be dealt with and released in order for you to move forward. Having a "victim consciousness" or harboring any other negative emotions such as unforgiveness, anger, or depression will impede progress on your personal holistic journey.

Step 2: Life review

Once you've surrendered issues of the past, you can perform a life review and assess what's causing disruption. Major life areas such as health, finances, career, and relationships should be evaluated for imbalances. Decide which one takes priority and work on it from a holistic perspective. Do an honest review and repair what's creating disharmony or draining your energy.

Step 3: Change your thoughts

Every thought you have leaves an energetic imprint in the universal flow that manifests your reality. Keeping your thoughts healthy and positive allows you to attract desirable situations. As each component is interconnected, your mind (thoughts), heart (feelings), body (actions), and spirit (intuition, connection) will reflect the changes initiated by your willingness to improve.

Taking the first steps toward holistic wellness may be scary, but it's also empowering. Mind/body/spirit living is a conscious journey, not a destination. Be patient with yourself as you tap into your courage and reclaim control of your life.

Examples of holistic connection:

* A woman gets rejected in romantic relationships several times. She no longer wants to feel vulnerable and decides to close her heart to love. Eventually, her physical body reacts and she develops blockages in her coronary vessels. Her heart is sick and she is "heart sick."

* A man works at a job he is dissatisfied with. Fearful of leaving the stability of a steady paycheck, he decides to ignore his intuition to open his own business. He develops chronic pain in his hips and legs. Physically, he is unable to walk without feeling discomfort. Mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, he lacks faith and confidence to "move forward" in life.

* A child grows up in a dysfunctional family and resents her parents throughout adulthood. She eventually develops a cancerous growth, metastasizing in her body. As she refuses to forgive her family, the anger continues to "eat away" at her insides.

Affirmations: I embark on a journey to heal my life. I live holistically and attract harmonious experiences. I release the past and live in the here and now.
