How to get red-carpet ready (Video)

The beginning of the new year heralded the awards season for many: Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild awards, and this weekend, the Academy Awards. As svelte bodies and flawlessly presented forms of entertainers proceed along the red carpet, viewers may be reminded of abandoned New Year's resolutions to lose weight, build muscle or just tone up.

However, don't give up hope! It is worth being reminded that most of these red-carpet worthy bodies are the result of a great deal of sweat and many, many workouts. While many stars use personal trainers, nutritionists, and wardrobe staff to create that perfect red carpet look, most people can use the workout and fitness tips at home without the expense. Many fitness activities may be accomplished anywhere, anytime, with little equipment or expense. Some workouts such as the "paparazzi pike" from Shape magazine may be accomplished in a few minutes a day. Other celebrity fitness workouts use a combination of cardio, plyometrics, strength training, or yoga.

Ratcheting up workouts and general fitness, improving nutrition, and focusing on personal beauty regimens all contribute to a healthier and more vibrant appearance. While few are planning to navigate the red carpet this year, following some of these celebrity workout programs can help us anyone to look and feel great too!
