The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Now, I would never say that you're going to hell if you don't get organized. Not to worry. However, having good intentions without the follow through is a major cause of disorganization.
How do you get your intentions checked off your to do list?
- Use reminders
- Write specific to dos
- Set aside time
Don't rely on memory! When you think of a task to do, it may seem memorable and important at the time, but chances are something will come up in the next half hour to distract you and make you forget about it. Write it down, text it or email it to yourself.
When you do write it down, use specific language. Don't write: plan the party. Write: talk to Brian tonight about when we should schedule the party. That's the first step. Once you do that, the next step will come to mind. (It's probably: who shall we invite?)
Set aside time to do things you intend to do. No one has free time. "Free time" is a myth. Get real. Stuff only gets done when you decide to spend an hour on it after dinner, or if you make a date with yourself on your calendar.
