If you made New Year’s Resolutions, it doesn't take to start losing your motivation. When this happens you need to push yourself a little harder to get back on track.
The first month is one of the hardest, when trying to succeed with your New Year’s Resolution. It’s when most people give up. If you want to accomplish your New Year’s goals there are a few things you can do.
1. Keep Your Focus on the End Result.
If you focus on all of the hard work you need to do, all the ways you need to improve or all the things you need to change, you’re setting yourself up for failure. Instead focus on the ways your life will be better when you succeed in making the desired change.
2. Decide if You Need to Change What You’re Doing.
How are you working on your goal? Before you give up, believing you're not capable of achieving your goal, ask if there is another way to accomplish your desired outcome. There can be many solutions to a problem, you may need to find the one that works for you.
3. Put Some of Your Resolutions on Hold.
Some people make a long list of things they want to accomplish. The longer the list, the more likely you won’t succeed. You can start working on a goal at any time. Space out the starting time for your goals so you have time to develop new habits and behaviors one at a time.
4. Try to Have a Little Fun With it.
You’re more likely to do something you enjoy. Find something enjoyable about working towards your goal. If there is nothing you can think of, then give yourself a fun reward to look forward to. Set up some milestones and when you reach them, you get your reward.
5. Find an Accountability Partner.
Find someone to work with you. It’s better to have someone who is also working on a goal. You can touch base once a week and lay out your plans for the week. Having someone hold you accountable is enough for some people to stay on track.
The important thing is not to give up. The beginning of a goal is the most difficult time. It’s when most people give up. So, if you’re about to give up on your New Year’s Resolution, get back on track and reach your goal.
