How to get a professionally written resume - for free

Anyone can write a resume, just like anyone can remodel their bathroom, do their own taxes, and fix their own car. It's a great way to save money - but it doesn't always produce the results you need. Many times a professional contractor, accountant or mechanic will eventually be needed to fix mistakes, find errors, or solve the tough repairs one just can't figure out.

It's the same thing with resumes. Anyone can search Google and find resume templates to copy, or buy a program that helps them complete their resume. But like the above projects, that doesn't always produce the results one is looking for. In this case, the result job seekers want is simple - they want interviews and they want a new job!

There are also many people who just can't convey their professional experiences and skills into the words they want on a resume. They know what they have done and they can talk about what they have done, but they can't put it down in words that makes them stand out to employers.

And that is one of the many reasons a professional resume writer can help you.

It's just like the person who can do some of the work in their bathroom, but not all of it. Or the person who can do the basics on their taxes, but can't find the hidden secrets that could help them get a bigger tax return, or the neighborhood mechanic who just can't figure out why your car doesn't start once the temperature gets below freezing. A lot of us can do the basic everyday things to get by, but many of us can't do the things that help take it to the next level.

If you want your career to go to the next level, then consider hiring a professional resume writer.

Why?

1. A professional resume writer can help you package your career highlights into a well-written document that shows - not tells - employers why you are the top candidate for a job. A resume is not a career biography, but a marketing tool that should clearly prove to the employer why they should interview you, and eventually hire you.

2. A professional resume writer can see through the flaws on your resume and help you fix them - before it gets to the recruiter. They provide an extra set of eyes and an open-mind that can question what you say, fix it and improve it.

3. A professional resume writer can help come up with new ideas, thoughts, and strategies on how to best convey your message to the employer. By asking probing questions and coming up with a strategy to get as much detailed information as possible, you have a better chance of making sure you include every important detail that can help you stand out. But - it's not just about saying more, in fact, it's about saying less, but saying it more powerfully. A resume writer can help you do that.

4. Samples, suggestions, tips and trends: A professional has suggestions to offer you based on discussions with recruiters, hiring managers and employers who are doing the hiring. They know what the latest tips and trends are, and they can include those secrets and information in your resume.

5. Focus on your job search - not your resume: The job search is stressful, time-consuming and exhausting. And writing the resume is a big part of that. If you can get a sense of peace and focus your efforts on networking, searching for jobs and making contacts that can help you, wouldn't it be worth it to have a professional write your resume?

If you are sending out resumes but not getting the results you want, then consider hiring a professional resume writer. As a professional resume writer, I'd be happy to help you achieve your goals and update your resume. If you are worried about the cost, here is how you can get a resume for free. Contact me at mattkrum@yahoo.com to discuss options on how to update your resume. If you sign up to work together on your resume, you have 30 days to refer two other friends or colleagues to sign up. If they also sign up, you will be reimbursed the entire cost of your resume!

If you are still interested but don't have a friend or colleague to refer think about this:

While you might not think you can afford a professionally written resume ask yourself if you can really afford to be stuck in a job you don't like, a career path with no future or worse yet - without a job at all!

I don't want to sound smart, but when you don't have a job, you don't have the money to spend on this type of services.

After 23 years I found myself being made redundant without much notice. No redundancy pay and the help I get from the Government does not leave any room to hire this type of services when you really are in need of them.

I searched the web, found numerous of templates and keep tweaking and modyfing my resume (or as we call it CV) for each job I apply for. It is now 11 months and I still am unemployed, however feedback on the used resume's tell me that it is not only the resume. It is a lack of standards. One recruiter wants everything about your last job, the next about the last 2 and another about all your experience. How on earth can you satisfy them all in 2 pages?

My approche to the problem was to write a skills based resume, but still it is difficult to list all my skills in a 2 page document, and then again, which skills are the ones the recruiter is looking for? How to put them in a format that will stand out above the rest?

Another thought on this is, whith so much resume / CV services providers around, who is actually the right one for you? I find that most are just after the money!

None has had the guts to step over their boundry and put a promise to their guarentuess by saing: "I'll write your CV and when you win a job with it, then you will pay me for my provided service."

I know already your reply, "Do you think I'm stupid? Who guarentees me that you will pay me when you get that job?" Well here is my reply: "Do you think I am stupid, because who will guarentee that I WILL get a job with the resume that YOU wrote for me?".

Employers will see through your resume / CV if it has been written by you or by a "professional writer".

    John,

    Thanks for the comments.

The first thing to remember is, the resume does not get you the job, a resume gets you the interview, and at the interview is when you need to continue to show the employer you are the right person for the job.

One of the biggest mistakes people think is that once they have the interview, they have the job. It's only a part of the process.

The reason a resume writer can't guarantee they get you the job with a resume they write is the fact that they can't control how you interview. A resume writer can't control how you respond to questions, how you answer questions, how you dress, prepare for the interview, and what types of questions you ask the employer while interviewing.

In addition, you mention a skills-based resume. All resumes should be results-based. In other words, if you are simply listing your skills, how does that show the employer you achieved results they are looking for?

Every recruiter I talk to says resumes need to focus on results and successes to prove to the employer that what you did in your previous job, you will do in your future job.

In order to put them in a format that stands out from the rest, you need to focus on listing accomplishments, not skills.

Again, a resume does not get you the job, it gets you the interview. I'd be happy to review your resume - for free - and hope I can provide you with advice that can improve your chances of getting an interview.

Thanks for writing and good luck!
