How to find love while skiing on Valentine's Day

You've heard the saying, in one variation of another, that couples who play together stay together. But what if you're a skier who doesn't have a mate? Sure, skiing is fun even when you go alone--ahem, singles line--but we all know it's better with a buddy (plus you don't have to sit by yourself at lunchtime).

If you're a single who skis, you can attempt to find love--or at least a ski buddy or two--on the slopes this Valentine's Day.

Lifts of Love
Mt. Norquay in Banff, Alberta, Canada, takes a fresh approach to speed-dating as the resort brings the concept to the chair lift. Each lift ride is a speed date and a chance to pair up with other snow-riding singles either to chat on the lift, ski down the mountain or hang out after at the après ski mixer. The resort hosted this event in 2013 as well and it's been said that it was a hit among guests.

Cost: $25 for pre-registered participants, $30 at day-of check-in

Find it: Feb. 14, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on mountain with a mixer to follow at Norquay's Lone Pine pub.

More info: Check out this info page.

Love on the Lifts
Keystone Resort has love in the air on Feb. 14. The resort kicks off the morning with its second year of Gondola Speed Dating. Free for skiers and riders who have a lift ticket or season pass to Keystone, participants get the opportunity to meet other people who share a passion for skiing while riding the River Run gondola to the top of Dercum Mountain. Find a match in the morning then meet up for the Love on the Lifts Après Party in the afternoon where you can work on that budding relationship some more.

Cost: Free but participants need a lift ticket or season pass to access the Gondola.

Find it: Feb. 14, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the speed dating at the River Run Gondola with the après party running from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 9280' Tap House.
